Stan Norris, Artistic Director of The Rep 1976 – 1996

We remember Stan Norris, who sadly passed away a few days ago.

Stan had been lecturing at Scawsby College when he came to the Rep as Artistic Director in 1976.

He brought a new vitality to the Rep with his passion and expertise for all kinds of drama. One of his memorable productions was the Canterbury Tales. The costumes and set were all made by talented Rep members under his direction, and with it, he carried on the best traditions of the Rep’s professional goals. Stan could turn his hand to anything. He was a great director, costume designer, set painter, actor, and even sword maker!

We in the Rep were incredibly lucky to have Stan as our Artistic Director for those years. They were exciting times for us, and we learned so much from him.

Our sympathy goes out to Matt, Thomas, (who were part of the Rep,) and all his family.
